Makes about 30 bars
These bars are chock full of goodness: 100% whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and, of course, chocolate. We like to think of these as a lunch box snack every mom can feel good about packing. We hope our lunch box gets packed with them, too.
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium bowl, beat together the butter and sugars until light and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time. Beat well. Add the vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the flour mixture to the butter and egg mixture. Mix until just blended. Add the oatmeal and the chopped chocolate.
Press the dough into an ungreased 9-inch by 13-inch baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Cool. Slice into bars.
