RAY MAJOR

Ray Major heads the development team at SCHARFFEN BERGER Chocolate Maker and is responsible for sourcing the fine cacao used to make these great chocolate bars. In this role he is also responsible for initiatives in cacao sustainability and social responsibility.

He is a graduate of Drexel University and has a degree in Biological Science. He has thirty-two years experience making chocolate on four continents. His passion for cacao and sustainability began while living in West Africa where he worked with cacao and saw its potential to provide income to the farmers in an environmentally friendly manner. This view was reinforced while living in Brazil where he made chocolate and traveled through the cacao growing regions of that country.

Aside from making the finest chocolate possible his passion is the Amazon rainforest and how cacao can be put to use in reforesting what has been lost of this great ecosystem.
