as a long time buyer of Scharffen Berger chocolate I found the recent molding and packaging changes disappointing. Almost all bars arrived broken. Breaking along score lines is a challenge and I've resorted again to weighing chocolate for recipes.
The change in 2022 to the individually wrapped 1 oz. bars to me was marketing brilliance. Then I could introduce friends to Scharffen Berger with a 1 oz. sample. And it was so easy to put an ounce in my lunch that a lot more was consumed in hand compared to the 9.7 ounce baking bars which I used almost exclusively for baking and cooking. I liked this new packaging so well that I easily adjusted to the price increase.
A broken three ounce bar for $6.00 has lost some of its decadence:(
Of course it is still delicious. (Even if it has more calories.)
